Winner 12.20 "Twaalf Twintig" started the 24 hours race in her home town Enkhuizen.
Under spinnaker the team took off in boat speeds varying between 8.5 en 9 kts, heading for the locks of Den Oever.
Team Winner Yachts decided to seek for tidal advantage on the north sea and headed out for Den Helder in 20 to 25 kts of wind.
SOG went up to above 9 kts for a very long time.
After passing the "Zuiderhaaks" the spinnaker went up again and SOG was constantly between 10 and 11 kts.
Near Vlieland the jib was hoisted and the team was a little bit too early at Harlingen to have tidal advantage towards the locks of Kornwerderzand.
The wind was still in southwesterly directions, but despite all the tacking which was needed to reach kornwerderzand, SOG average on this track was around 6 kts thanks to the exceptional pointing abillity of the 12.20.
After passing the locks SOG went up again, reaching 7.5 to 8 kts.
In the afternoon several showers with a lot of rain and wind came over the IJsselmeer, 12.20 headed into this bad weather all the time in search of more wind and good boat speeds.
SOG went up above 8 kts.
Winds shifted all the time, making it very difficult to forecast a proper last part of the race.
Finally the team was only 10 minutes earlier than the maximum time limit at the finish in Medemblik.
