Routine inspections

Before you go sailing, carry out a routine inspection. Check the following seven points.

1. Check the cotter pins in the stay;
2. Check the bilge for water. Keep the bilge clean and check regularly for fuel and gas vapours or fuel leaks;
3. Check the fuel level of the engine;
4. Check the fuel level;
5. Check the running rigging before hoisting the sails;
6. Check that the toilet valve has been shut off properly;
7. Check the sails for possible wear and tear.
