When carrying out gelcoat repairs, it is always advisable to use the original gelcoat. It is especially important that the exact colour used.
We have the most commonly used gelcoat colours in stock. Please feel free to drop by our boatyard or contact us.
Carry out the following actions in good dry weather conditions only and the temperature is between 15 - 20° Celsius:
- Scrape away the damaged material and remove any loose pieces;
- On a small piece of cardboard, mix a few drops of gelcoat with a maximum of 2% hardener.
- WARNING: hardener is a peroxide and is extremely dangerous for the eyes;
- Apply the prepared gelcoat roughly to the area to be repaired. The gelcoat sets after approximately 20 minutes and the area can then be smoothed level with a sharp Stanley knife or by sanding with waterproof sandpaper no. 1200;
- The area can then be shined and polished with Valma (coarse) and then with a mild car cleaner. For the finishing touch, apply wax to the area.
